UNCONVENTIONAL RESIDENTS ... the true story part.1

Una mattina dello scorso maggio, appena seduto davanti alla consolle dello studio AGW, ho avuto la bizzarra idea di andare a ricercare alcune vecchie registrazioni di inizio anni ottanta ... doveva essere un modo come qualsiasi altro per iniziare una giornata di lavoro in studio, magari immaginando di trovare tra quelle pagine archiviate digitalmente qualcosa da recuperare oggi. In effetti dall'archivio è riemersa una registrazione datata 1984, realizzata in completa solitudine con un Tascam Teac 144 a cassette dedicata alla rielaborazione di "Mousetrap", un brano dei RESIDENTS tratto dall'album "The tunes of two cities" (1982).

One morning last May, just sitting in front of the AGW studio console, I had the bizarre idea of going to look for some old recordings of mine from the early eighties ... it had to be a way like any other to start a day of work in the studio, perhaps imagining to find among those digitally archived pages something to be recovered today. Actually, a recording dated 1984 re-emerged from the archive, made all by myself with a Tascam Teac 144 cassette dedicated an unexpected reworking of "Mousetrap", a song by RESIDENTS taken from from the album "The tunes of two cities" (1982).

Al risuonare di questo documento mi sono venute in mente le circostanze per cui mi ero cimentato all'epoca in una simile avventura ... volevo infatti omaggiare "lo sconosciuto gruppo più famoso del mondo" che in quel periodo mi stava dando tantissime emozioni e suggestioni creative nell'ascoltarne la produzione discografica raccolta all'epoca con tanta tanta difficoltà. E mi sono anche ricordato che non avevo soltanto provato ad iniziare un progetto di covers delle composizioni della band, ma avevo anche immaginato una serie di brani originali "ispirati" al suono Residents (da pubblicare eventualmente con il mio gruppo di allora, i RUINS). Le cose naturalmente sono andate diversamente ed il progetto incentrato sul mio omaggio al gruppo di Minna Street non è mai realmente iniziato (anche se le mie composizioni a loro ispirate sono state rese disponibili recentemente su bandcamp

When this document resounded, I was reminded of the circumstances for which I had ventured into such an experience at the time ... I wanted to pay homage to "the unknown and most famous group in the world" who at that time was giving me so many emotions and creative suggestions while listening to the record production collected at the time with so much difficulty.
